What lurks in the outdoor garden?

Since returning from our Easter holidays, we have started our new Science topic of ‘Living things.’

We began by researching different types of plants, which are local to Standish, that Elliott the dragon may like. He has to have lots of friends you see, so we have to plant flowers that will attract lots of beautiful butterflies and bees. We then spent some time in the Outdoor Learning Classroom, where we took part in lots of great activities such as pond-dipping, preparing the flower beds, scavenger hunts, mini-beast hunts and colour-matching! We found some fascinating creatures and so decided in the afternoon to create our own art using the ones we found as inspiration, our classroom will soon be a mini-beast laboratory! Today, we have been designing and writing about our perfect garden, with lots of fantastic description.

What would your perfect garden be like?

Do you recognise any of these mini-beasts from your own garden at home?

World Book Day!

We had a fantastic day on World Book day! There were lots of fantastic costumes, from such a wide variety of books. We had a parade during assembly and talked about which books we liked and why. Y4M created mind-maps about reading, explaining why we like it, which are our favourite books and where we love to read. In our class, we absolutely love to read, what’s your favourite book and why?
